Biography

Prof. Khalil Bedran is currently Head of Division at St Georges University Medical Center and President of the Lebanese Society of Gastroenterology. Moreover, Professor Bedran is Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, Gastroenterology – Proctology at the UOB Faculty of Medicine. As former Assistant Chairman (2000-2004) and Vice-Chair (2004-2006), he also served as member on the Medical and Technical Development Committee (2005-2007) at Saint Georges University Medical Centre. 

After completing his doctorate and role as Assistant Chairman of the Department of Medicine (2002-2004), Prof. Bedran became Coordinator of the MED III programme, a member of the MED III Teaching Committee, the Student Affairs Committee and the Curriculum Committee at Balamand University Faculty. His clinical experience includes his role as Principal Investigator in a phase II clinical trial on Crohn's disease and Sub-Investigator in phase III clinical trials on ulcerative colitis.

Prof. Bedran's main research interest includes inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), where he is actively involved in numerous clinical trials. Moreover, he is engaged in many prospective studies in the field of fatty liver disease.

Dr. Abbas Bahr is Head of the Gastroenterology Division at Bahman Hospital and an attending Consultant in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Interventional Proctology in Lebanon, with previous activities in clinical research at Saint-Antoine Hospital. Moreover, Dr. Bahr acts as a lecturer in Gastroenterology at the Faculty of Medicine of LAU and LU Universities.
